Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere to the west of Montreal however, it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short time in the city did not last long. Brugel was raised in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I reached the height of the size of my male friends then I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at high school that led her in the direction she required. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the lead of Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens. She attracted the most media attention after she was offered the part in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below).
